Millions of people are spending money on self-education.
And there are online platforms where these people gather to learn from one another.
That makes it easy to get the word out about your business.
You could start making $1,000+ per month online by serving people there!
Here’s my story of getting started with online business:
In my book, From Megachurch to Multiplication, I wrote a chapter called Tentmaking. In that chapter, I shared about my tentmaking journey and how it allowed me to come off the payroll at our church.
Readers started reaching out and asking for help with their own tentmaking journey.
I decided to put together a few courses & communities to teach others how to make extra income on the side like I had done.
People started buying them and many made extra income following what I taught in the courses. They told their friends & more people started investing in our courses & communities.
This quickly became another stream of income for our family.
Here are the 6 steps I followed to start earning $1,000+ each month:
- Identify the niche you would like to serve
For me, I knew pastors, missionaries & Christian leaders wanted help making extra money on the side. That became my focus. I know another pastor who has created products to help pastors with their weekly sermons. And other pastors that have created products to help with various aspects of ministry. This can be anything you have some expertise in that you can help others with.
- Build an e-mail list
Now that you know who you would like to serve, begin to gather e-mail addresses of people who would like to learn from you. When I first started, I added the people who had already asked me for help and encouraged them to share what I was doing with others as well.
- Send out free weekly content to provide value to your audience
This can take on a variety of forms. You could post videos to YouTube. You could start a podcast. Or you could write a newsletter. I chose to write a newsletter/blog each week to help ministry leaders increase their income. I started e-mailing the newsletter to my e-mail list each week & posting it on our website.
- Promote your content on social media & encourage others to sign up for your e-mail list
Find a social platform where your prospective audience hangs out & engage with them there. As you provide value, invite them to join your e-mail list to get weekly content in their inbox.
- Begin working on a course or community where people can pay for additional coaching
Some of your followers will like your free content so much that they’d love to pay you for extra coaching to help them achieve their goals. You’ll want to have an online product developed that you can offer to them. This is very easy to create. It can be in video, audio, or written format.
- Promote your paid products to your e-mail list each quarter
Ever so often, after sending out a lot of free content, promote your paid products to your e-mail list. Most people will just stick with the free content, but there will be some who will be glad to pay for additional coaching.
I’d love to help every pastor have one stream of income coming from online business.
There is so much opportunity online & many people would love to pay you to help coach them to do things you’ve already done.
This is a great way to earn extra income in your spare time!
