And the most sought after business class seat on Qatar is called the Qsuite.
It’s literally a small suite in the sky. Check out this video to see it.
Our family has been planning to go to Thailand next summer to see our extended family. We’ve hosted multiple exchange students from Thailand and they’ve become like family to us. We’ve been wanting to take a trip to see them before my oldest daughter graduates from high school.
I knew getting all 4 of us in Qsuites with points would be extremely difficult, but I was up for the challenge. The reason it’s so difficult is because they don’t release many award bookings for Qsuites per flight & they sell out quickly. Many travel enthusiasts are competing to book these seats right when they release them.
I needed to book each leg separately because if I waited for the round trip booking, the first leg would’ve already sold out.
I was told in an online Qsuite forum that booking 4 Qsuites with points on a flight is nearly impossible, so I hoped to at least get 2 and then 2 of us could be in economy or try to qualify for a last-minute upgrade.
I downloaded the Qatar app and began to watch it daily for the flights to release.
Amazingly, I found a flight to Bangkok with 4 Qsuites available for reward redemption.
It felt like I hit the jackpot.
I quickly transferred the points from Chase, American Express and Capital One to British Airways to make the booking. British Airways & Qatar Airways both use Avios, so if I transferred to British Airways, I could use them to book a Qatar flight.
Because this business class ticket is so popular (and expensive), the points for each of us just one-way was 95,000 (190,000 round trip). The cash price was $8,803.80 per ticket (round trip).
After I booked the outbound flight, I had to wait 2 weeks until the inbound flights came available for booking.
I checked the app daily & was eventually able to book 2 more Qsuites for our return trip. I tried to find 4 reward seats but couldn’t find any days/times where 4 seats were available. I booked 2 of us in Qsuites and I’ll probably book 2 more economy tickets & hope for an upgrade to Qsuites using points closer to departure.
All that to say, we’ve booked 6 Qsuites with points and I’ve got the points ready to book the last 2 if they come available (or if there’s the potential for an upgrade).
I would’ve never booked this with cash because the entire cash cost would be just over $35,000. And that’s just for the flights!
But due to accumulating points & travel hacking, it looks like we’ll be able to take the flight of a lifetime for nearly free (still have to pay some taxes). Wow!
And to think it wasn’t that many years ago where we didn’t go on many vacations because they didn’t really fit into the budget.
If you’re paying a lot for travel, you don’t have to. Keep following along & we’ll teach you how to travel for nearly free.
